RINA is currently recruiting for a Germany Hull Plan Approval Engineer to join its office in Hamburg within the North Europe Marine Division.

Mission

 

This role focuses on detailed plan and design reviews, resolving issues related to conflicting design requirements, ensuring client requirements and applicable standards are met.

Projects could include the approval of new building projects (ships, offshore structures, yachts), conversions, major and minor modifications on existing units, outfitting and equipment certification.

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Review and approve structural drawings of ships, offshore units, yachts, and marine equipment, in compliance with Class Rules and Statutory Regulations, national and international requirements, Codes and standards.
  • Assist clients during the design and construction phase, providing guidance and support related to structural design.
  • Provide support for the resolution of issues related to conflicting design requirements and material standards.
  • Provide direct day-to-day support and oversight of project elements, visit sites to support clients and surveyors.
  • Provide direct or indirect support to engineers or engineering teams by gathering data, submitting documentation to officials and other day-to-day duties.
  • Prepare the project deliverables (technical reports, project performance documentations, engineering drawings, etc.) .
  • Take ownership and responsibility over the financial progress of assigned tasks.
  • Manage simple projects assigned applying project management concepts and techniques, providing feedback to project manager, serve as a reference for the escalation of issues.
  • Answer contractor questions, serve as liaisons between engineering and construction personnel.

Qualifications

 

  • Master's Degree in Naval Architecture.
  • 2+ years of experience in a Classification society, yard, designer, consulting office. IACS experience would be an advantage.
  • Fluent in English, proficient in German.
  • Strong knowledge of naval architecture, mechanical engineering.
  • Familiarity with Classification Society Rules (e.g., RINA, DNV, ABS, BV, LR) and international regulations (SOLAS, MARPOL, CSR, IACS URs, IMO codes).
  • Experience with plan approval procedures, including the review of drawings for compliance with class and statutory requirements.
  • Proficiency in FEA (E.G. Ansys, FEMAP, MAESTRO, NAPA Steel)
  • Basic knowledge of welding standards, shipyard practices, and structural fabrication techniques.
  • Analytic and problem solving skills, team player;
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in work;
  • Good time management skills;
  • Holding EU residential and work permit.
