RINA is currently recruiting for a Europe S&M Business Development Senior Manager to join its office in Germany within the Europe Engineering Commercial Management Division.​

Mission

The role is responsible for driving profitable growth in the Steel and Materials sector across Europe, through strategic client engagement, opportunity origination, and execution of high-value technical service contracts (e.g. process/product development advisory, testing, qualification, and failure analysis. The role combines strong commercial leadership with deep industrial understanding, ensuring alignment between market needs and RINA’s technical capabilities. The position directly contributes to order intake, revenue growth, and margin targets, while strengthening long-term client partnerships across the steel value chain.

Key Accountabilities

Driving order intake and revenue growth in the Steel & Materials segment.

Owning and executing commercial strategy for assigned markets/accounts.
Leading complex, high-value sales cycles (technical services, testing, advisory)

Identifying opportunities in steel process optimization, advanced materials testing, hydrogen/CO₂ applications, and pipeline integrity

Monitoring competitors and refining value proposition accordingly

Leading preparation of technical-commercial proposals with a margin-driven approach

Supporting contract negotiation and pricing strategy definition

Maintaining strong understanding of process&product development and optimization, materials engineering, laboratory testing, FEM/FEA simulations, and failure analysis.

Translating technical solutions into clear commercial value propositions for clients

Education

Bachelor’s Degree
Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Engineering

What we are looking for

10+ years of experience in business development, sales, or strategic partnerships, preferably in an international or highly technical industry (preferably steel & materials). 
Proven track record of leading sales activities and managing high-value client relationships (high-value engineering or testing services)
Experience in opportunity pipeline management, market expansion, and competitive analysis.
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute business strategies aligned with corporate objectives.
Strong background in contract negotiations, proposal development, and commercial planning.
Experience working with cross-functional teams and global stakeholders.
Deep understanding of market trends, competitive landscapes, and business opportunities.
Expertise in commercial strategy, financial forecasting, and business planning.-
Ability to develop and sustain strategic partnerships and alliances.
Strong knowledge of business intelligence tools and CRM systems.
Familiarity with technology solutions and digital transformation trends in the industry (strong understanding of steel production processes and products, materials testing, and product qualification). 
Exceptional leadership and negotiation skills to drive business growth.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build lasting client relationships.
Strategic mindset with the ability to identify and act on new business opportunities.

Results-oriented approach, with a focus on achieving commercial targets.
Collaboration and influence skills to work effectively with internal teams and senior management.

Strong network within steel industry, EPC contractors, or energy/pipeline operators
Experience managing complex international clients and multi-stakeholder environments
Ability to operate as a senior individual contributor in a matrix organization
Fluency in English and German is required; additional European languages considered a plus
