RINA is currently recruiting for a Sustainability & Climate Risk Consultant to join its office in Genoa, Milan, Naples or Rome, Italy within the ESG & Sustainability Division.
Mission
The ideal candidate will closely work with players within the industry, R&D and financial services sectors willing to mitigate climate change risks and implement adaptation strategies. The position will specifically provide technical expertise in ESG & Climate Change related services including but not limited to Climate Change Risk Assessments, Climate Scenarios Analysis, Climate Adaptation strategies, Paris Agreement alignment, EU Taxonomy & DNSH, Sustainable Finance/Green Finance/Climate Finance, Sustainability Reporting, Climate Corporate Governance, ESG KPIs & Assessments, ESG & Climate Due Diligence etc.
Key Accountabilities
- Technical leadership in implementing climate change risk & vulnerability assessments in various sectors, climate adaptation strategy, analysis climate scenarios
- Technical support in designing ESG strategies, running materiality assessments, delivering CSRD-aligned gap analysis, assessing Paris Agreement alignment, preparing and writing sustainability reports, defining sustainability strategies, action plans and target settings, conducting ESG Assessment and Due Diligence, assessing EU Taxonomy eligibility and alignment,
- Implement Research & Development tasks of ESG & Climate Risk related projects funded by the EU through the Research and innovation funding programme (Horizon Europe 2021-2027)
- Develop new opportunities, interact with new potential clients and contribute to technical and financial proposals.
- Manage parallel priorities and complex projects ensuring high-quality and on-time deliverables
- Collaborate, support and share knowledge with team members to ensure ESG team priorities are achieved.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to sustainability, with thorough knowledge of climate change, ESG principles and reporting.

Education
Experience and qualifications
- A postgraduate degree in Engineering, Sustainability or Energy Management is a plus.
- At least 3 years of experience experience in working on Climate Change Risk Assessment (both Physical and Transition risk), Climate Scenarios Analysis, Climate Adaptation strategies
- Experience in working on other sustainability topics and reporting issues is a plus (such asCSRD, TCFD, GRI, GHG protocol, non-financial disclosure, CDP reporting, and ESG );
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Italian (C1 level), other languages an asset (e.g., French, Spanish)
- Excellent Office suite knowledge, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated passion and interest in driving environmental and social change through business
- Self-starter – enthusiasm and willingness to learn and stay abreast of constantly evolving development
