RINA is currently recruiting for a Senior Project Manager - Railway and Mass Transit to join its office in Genoa, Milan or Rome, within the Italy Infrastructure & Mobility Division.

Mission

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing complex infrastructure projects in the railway and mass transit sectors, ensuring that objectives are met within agreed timelines, budgets, and quality standards specific to the industry. The role involves managing multidisciplinary teams and acting as the key interface with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders, ensuring successful project delivery in both national and transnational contexts. #LI-MT3

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Define objectives, scope, and deliverables for infrastructure projects in the railway and mass transit sectors, developing detailed operational plans.
  • Manage resources, schedules, and activities across multiple teams involved in railway and mass transit infrastructure projects, ensuring continuous alignment with sector-specific goals.
  • Provide strategic oversight and resolve complex issues typical of railway and mass transit infrastructure projects, maintaining regular updates to senior management.
  • Collaborate with department heads to ensure availability and effective allocation of specialized technical resources.
  • Manage client and stakeholder relationships, delivering regular progress reports, risk assessments, and mitigation plans related to railway and mass transit projects.
  • Monitor project budgets, analyze financial performance, and proactively manage costs in complex infrastructure contexts.
  • Coordinate risk management and quality control activities, ensuring compliance with technical and regulatory standards specific to railway and mass transit sectors.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to associate project managers, fostering the development of sector-specific skills.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience managing complex projects, preferably in the railway or mass transit sectors, with significant exposure to cross-border projects.
  • Advanced skills in planning, resource management, and financial control.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and practices in railway and mass transit, including international contexts.
  • Excellent negotiation, contract management, and client/vendor liaison skills.

Nice to have: 

  • Professional project management certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner) are a plus; Agile methodology skills are also valued.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Lean) with the ability to tailor approaches to project needs.
