RINA is currently recruiting for a Senior Innovation Project Manager to join its office in Genoa or Rome (Italy) within the Innovation Proposal & Project Management Division.​

Mission

The Senior Innovation Project Manager leads complex innovation initiatives and programs, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the required quality and impact. The role oversees high-impact projects (including Mission Units, digital initiatives, process redesign, and new services) and contributes to the strategic execution of innovation, excluding pure research projects.

Key Accountabilities

Staffing and team leadership

 - Define and build project teams based on required capabilities and objectives
 - Assess technical and interpersonal skills to ensure effective team composition
 - Lead and mentor team members across projects and initiatives


Project coordination and delivery

 - Lead and oversee complex projects, programs, or Mission Units
 - Define governance, roles, responsibilities, and execution strategies
 - Ensure alignment with scope, timelines, quality, and expected impact
 - Oversee project communication, reporting, and documentation
 - Optimize resource allocation across the project lifecycle


Economic and financial project management

 - Monitor and control project budgets, costs, and financial KPIs
 - Ensure proper financial planning, tracking, and reporting
 - Identify optimization opportunities and ensure value creation


Risk and issue management

 - Anticipate risks and define mitigation strategies
 - Manage complex issues and conflicts
 - Escalate critical matters to senior stakeholders when needed
 - Drive continuous improvement initiatives


Quality assurance

 - Ensure compliance with company standards, methodologies, and objectives
 - Review deliverables and ensure alignment with expected outcomes
 - Lead lessons learned and continuous improvement processes
 - Ensure full and accurate project documentation

Stakeholder management and interaction

 - Interface with senior management and key stakeholders
 - Support strategic decision-making through structured insights and reporting
 - Collaborate with functions such as Finance, Portfolio Management, and Control


Innovation-specific responsibilities

 - Drive innovation scouting and strategic initiatives
 - Oversee knowledge management and intellectual property aspects
 - Support communication, dissemination, and adoption of innovation outcomes
 - Contribute to innovation programs including Mission Units, digital transformation, process redesign, and new service initiatives

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering General

Qualifications

Professional experience
 - 5+ years in project-based or technical environments
 - Proven experience managing complex and high-impact projects
 - Strong exposure to innovation, digital, transformation, or Mission Unit initiatives
Technical and project management skills
 - Advanced expertise in project management methodologies
 - Strong planning, budgeting, and resource management capabilities
 - Solid experience in stakeholder and client management
 - Strong understanding of risk, quality, and performance management
Leadership and team coordination skills
Additional assets (Plus):
 - PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile certifications
 - Experience in international and cross-functional environments
 - Advanced academic or technical background (PhD is a plus)
