RINA is currently recruiting for a Senior Bridge Engineer - Categorie Protette 68/99 to join its office in Genoa within the Civil Engineering Division.​

Mission

We are looking for a Senior Bridge Engineer registered as a protected category candidate under Italian Law 68/99. The role focuses on planning, designing, and maintening of bridge structures. The role involves applying engineering principles to ensure the safety, functionality, and longevity of bridges within infrastructure projects. This position requires a strong understanding of structural engineering, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and adherence to industry standards.

Key Accountabilities

Bridge Design and Analysis:

  • Design and analyze bridge structures, considering factors such as load-bearing capacity, materials, and environmental impact;
  • utilize engineering software and tools to model and simulate bridge behavior under different conditions.

Project Planning:

  • Collaborate with project managers and other engineering disciplines to develop comprehensive plans for bridge projects;
  • provide input on timelines, resource requirements, and budget considerations.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure that bridge designs and construction adhere to local, state, and national codes and regulations;
  • stay informed about changes in standards and implement updates as necessary.

Structural Assessments:

  • Conduct inspections and assessments of existing bridges to evaluate structural integrity and identify maintenance or rehabilitation needs;
  • provide recommendations for repairs or upgrades based on assessments.

Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Work closely with architects, geotechnical engineers, and construction teams to integrate bridge designs into overall infrastructure projects;
  • coordinate with government agencies, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project success.

Construction Oversight:

  • Monitor construction activities to ensure that bridge construction aligns with approved designs and engineering specifications;
  • address any unforeseen issues or challenges that arise during the construction phase.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed records of design plans, assessments, and construction activities;
  • prepare comprehensive reports for internal and external stakeholders, summarizing project progress and outcomes.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering General

Qualifications

  • Mandatory requirement: Registered as a protected category candidate under Italian Law 68/99 (collocamento mirato);
  • at least 5 years of experience in bridge design, analysis, and project management, preferably with a focus on transportation infrastructure projects;
  • proficiency in structural analysis software such as SAP2000, LARSA, or MIDAS Civil for modeling and simulating bridge behavior;
  • strong knowledge of engineering principles and techniques related to bridge design, including load-bearing capacity, materials selection, and environmental impact assessment;
  • familiarity with relevant design codes and standards such as AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, Eurocodes, and local building codes;
  • experience conducting structural assessments and inspections of existing bridges, with the ability to analyze and interpret assessment data;
  • competence in using project management tools for planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.

Compensation Data

The salary range and job grade for this position are defined based on objective, role-related criteria andresponsibilities in accordance with CCNL RINA (CNEL code I480). The gross annual salary range foreseen isbetween €40,000 and €48,000 and will be finally defined on candidate’s professional experience, qualifications,competencies and overall alignment with the role. In addition, an annual variable compensation component isprovided, based on both Company and individual performance objectives in accordance with the currentpolicies and collective agreements. The overall compensation package is complemented by the Company'swelfare.
