RINA is currently recruiting for a Rolling Stock Engineer to join its office in Genoa, Rome or Naples, Italy within the International Infrastructure & Mobility Division.

Mission

Playing the role of a Rolling Stock Engineer by implementing and managing all engineering activities to ensure the development, approval and start of service of rolling stock vehicles. Supporting the junior engineers promoting their training on the job activities.   

Key Accountabilities

As a member of the Rolling Stock Engineering Team, you will be responsible to:
- Develop verification and validations activities, procedures and plans
- Review technical documentation, drawings, specifications, reports
- Implementing technical reports, issuing comments, findings and recommendations
- Coordinate direct day-to-day support and overview of project development phases
- Coordinate and monitor product systems and components development, visit sites, factories and test laboratories
- Lead direct or indirect support to engineers or engineering teams by gathering data and submitting documentation to customer/institutions/third parties
- Coordinate and ensure communications with projects group as needed on major projects in the Business Units
- Responsible for the production and the performance of assigned projects 
- Establish the working relationship with operations management needed to facilitate the coordination and execution of project work, such that the operational impact is minimized
- Establish the working relationship with independent assessors (ISA, NoBo, DeBo, AsBo) by enduring the successful certification process of the rolling stock
- Responsible for the development of the technical competencies in the engineering scope of works
- Assist the PM during project execution including the definition of the resources to be allocated and of the assets and tools to be utilized, in the assessment of the man-hours required in order to prepare/update the mobilization plan, in preparing progress reports, in managing client relationships and change orders or claims, in coordinating the invoicing activity, in issuing purchase requisitions and technical evaluations directly or in coordinating the technical teams and specialists support
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting standards are maintained throughout the projects
- Monitor engineering progress against quality, budget and forecasted schedule
- Participate in and lead risk assessments and actively manage the risks of the projects and the business
- Responsible for the technical and contractual close-out of the project and ensures the project report .
- Prepare project estimates, budget, schedules and execution plans
- Be aware and understand the Quality Policy. Ensure that all assigned activities are executed in accordance with the RINA QMS. Be aware of the quality of his own work and its impact on service delivery and contribute to the QMS improvement according to his/her role

Education

Master’s Degree in Engineering General

Qualifications

At least 5 years’ experience in rolling stock system development: engineering & design, configuration managment, systems and subsystems technical managment, safety, homologation, testing.
Expert technical and scientific knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to practical problems
Customer oriented: able to answer contractor questions on behalf of the supervising engineer, and serve as liaisons between engineering, assessment bodies and manufacturing.
