RINA is currently recruiting for a Marine Technical Support Senior Engineer to join its office in Genoa, Naples, Rome or Trieste, Italywithin the Marine Consulting Division.

Mission

This role focuses primarily on;

  •  developing activities of support for the RINA Marine Consulting teams of the five regions on which RINA Marine Consulting is organized, by providing solutions for the colleagues for those matters and activities not commonly managed or never managed

  • Industrialization and standardization of the new activities of RINA Marine Consulting (RMC) portfolio by studying the whole process from the offers to the final outcomes by organizing not only the technical aspects but also the administrative and financial activities connected

  • Studying the new rules and regulations communing into force and applicable to the marine sector by finding the new opportunities and activities to propose and start for the clients of RINA Marine Consulting.

  • Support in the review of the draft technical and commercial proposals dealing with main contracts and new activities as well as in the budgetary evaluation of the commercial proposal

  • Monitoring the main projects ongoing in RMC, their technical and administrative progress

  • Support the Regional Directors in the examination and selection of the external suppliers.

  • Manage directly special projects as Project Manager and technical expert

Projects of RINA Marine Consulting are relevant to all aspects of marine Sectors from decarbonization to surveillance of the newbuilding on behalf of the Owners, from structural analysis and calculation to the due diligence of assets, from the analysis of ship’s propulsion to the electric load balance evaluation and optimization. Moreover RINA Marine Consulting philosophy is that any new activity in marine sector may be dealt with by RMC so a broader field of services for the client 

Key Accountabilities

  • Deep knowledge of the International Rules, Main Flag Administration Rules and regulation (USCG, MSA, Italy, …) 

  • Deep knowledge of the classification societies rules, IACS structures and documents and their process of updating and implementation for all kind of ships

  • Knowledge of ISO and IEC standards applicable to the marine sector

  • Develop and Review Hull Structural, Stability Machinery and Systems projects and high level calculations for ships, and marine equipment, in compliance with Class Rules and Statutory Regulations, for new buildings, ships in service, and ship’s conversions.

  • Experience in Classification and Statutory surveys for all kind of ships with a preference for the Cruise/passenger ships, LNG/LPG/REGAS units, special purposes ships (cable lay, OSV)

  • Assist clients (internal and external) during the design and construction phase, providing guidance and support related to technical matters (structure, stability, machinery, electric and safety)

  • Perform structural Machinery and Systems assessments and provide specialist advice for service delivery, research or development work within agreed broad parameters that include budget constraints and contractual requirements

  • Review the project deliverables (technical reports, project performance documentations and engineering drawings, etc.).

  • Ensure correct and up-to-date data is used and complete documentation is submitted to client and other day-to-day duties.

  • Perform assessments and provide specialist advice for service delivery, research or development work within agreed broad parameters that include budget constraints and contractual requirements.

  • Understand and apply project management concepts providing feedback to project manager. #LI-AC2

Education

Master’s Degree in Naval Engineering or Mechanical Engineering

Qualifications

  • Experience in Classification Services as Surveyor, Technician and plan approval matters.

  • Fluent English focused in marine sectors both spoken and written

  • One or more of the following:

    • Sailing experience on board of ships as officer or technical responsible

    • Shipowner superintendent or responsible of a technical staff.

    • Shipyard experience as technical responsible of projects

    • Flag Administration technician/inspector

    • Classification Society surveyor
