RINA is currently recruiting for a Marine Consulting Junior Project Manager to join its office in Genoa within the Mediterranean and Africa Marine Consulting Division.
Mission
As a Junior Project Manager in RINA’s Marine Consulting Division, your mission is to actively support the delivery of marine engineering and regulatory consultancy projects by combining a growing technical competence with a proactive and organized approach.
You will contribute to analyses involving Class Rules, statutory frameworks, ship stability, fire protection systems, life‑saving appliances, naval structures, and ship systems, while progressively strengthening your autonomy and expertise.
Your objective is to ensure reliable project coordination, maintain clear communication with internal teams, and provide technically sound work that meets RINA’s quality standards.
Through continuous learning, curiosity, and teamwork, you will help advance innovative, safe, and compliant engineering solutions for our clients in the maritime sector.

Key Accountabilities
Project Coordination & Client Support
- Support the coordination of marine consulting projects, helping ensure activities progress according to defined scope, schedule, and budget.
- Assist senior team members in interactions with clients, stakeholders, and internal resources.
- Contribute to defining project scope, timelines, and resource planning under guidance.
- Help prepare project documentation, progress summaries, proposals, and technical deliverables.
- Support the application of RINA’s quality standards and client requirements.
Technical Analysis & Engineering Activities
Depending on your background and emerging capabilities, you will contribute to a selection of the following technical studies and progressively develop additional competencies through training and project exposure:
- Class rules compliance and evaluation of design solutions.
- Statutory regulations analysis (SOLAS, MARPOL, Load Line, MLC, etc.) and support to approval processes.
- Ship stability analyses, including intact, damage, and probabilistic stability methods.
- Fire prevention and fire‑fighting systems review, including fire protection arrangements and compliance assessments.
- Life‑saving appliances (LSA) evaluation and verification of arrangements.
- Risk assessment and safety engineering, such as FMEA, HAZID/HAZOP, or risk-based decision processes.
- Naval structures analysis (hull arrangements, scantlings, structural integrity assessments).
- Ship systems and onboard plants, including auxiliary machinery, piping arrangements, and integrated system evaluations.
- Contribution to technical studies related to ship design, conversions, retrofitting, and innovative maritime technologies
Coordination & Development
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams of engineers, naval architects, and specialists.
- Learn from senior colleagues, progressively taking on more responsibility as technical competence grows.
- Help align engineering activities with regulatory requirements and project constraints.
- Support the preparation of proposals and technical presentations when needed.
Education
Qualifications & Skills
- A recent graduate in Naval Engineering (or related engineering discipline) is fully suitable for the role.
- Prior internship or project‑based experience is appreciated but not mandatory.
- Any initial exposure to project work, academic projects, or teamwork activities will be considered a plus.
Technical Skills
Candidates are not expected to possess all the skills listed below.
Having at least one of these technical foundations is sufficient, while all other competencies will be developed progressively through structured training, mentorship, and project experience within RINA Marine Consulting.
- Basic understanding of Class Rules (IACS, RINA Rules, etc.) and introductory knowledge of Statutory Regulations (IMO conventions), acquired through academic courses or thesis work.
- Foundational knowledge of ship stability, including intact and damage stability principles.
- Introductory familiarity with fire protection, fire‑fighting systems, and life‑saving appliances (LSA) as covered in university programs.
- Basic competence in naval structures, including exposure to structural analysis, scantling concepts, or rule‑based verification methods.
- Initial understanding of ship systems and onboard machinery, auxiliary plants, or piping arrangements.
- Familiarity (even at beginner level) with marine engineering and naval architecture software tools such as NAPA, RHINOCEROS, FEM tools, or system modelling applications used during coursework or academic projects.
- Fluent in Italian & English languages
