RINA is currently recruiting for a Junior Experience Designer - Maternity Leave Cover to join its office in Genova within the Digital Technology and Cybersecurity Division.
Mission
As a Junior Experience Designer, you will contribute to the creation of intuitive and engaging digital experiences by supporting the design team in research, prototyping, and the development of user-centered solutions. You’ll work closely with designers or senior and cross-functional teams, learning how to turn insights into effective interfaces. This position is offered as a maternity leave replacement.

Key Accountabilities
1. User Research
- Assist in planning and conducting user research activities (interviews, surveys, usability testing).
- Collaborate in synthesizing collected data to identify needs, behaviors, and pain points.
- Help create user personas and journey maps under team guidance.
2. Design Contribution
- Participate in workshops and brainstorming sessions, contributing ideas and creative solutions.
- Work with designers or senior to understand product goals and align design proposals.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices.
3. Prototyping and Testing
- Create low-fidelity wireframes and prototypes to visualize initial concepts.
- Support usability testing preparation and execution.
- Help analyze feedback and iterate on design solutions.
4. Collaboration
- Support cross-functional teams (e.g., product managers, developers, marketing) by helping facilitate communication across functions and ensuring design solutions are understandable and feasible.
- Actively participate in workshops and brainstorming sessions, contributing ideas and gathering input from colleagues and stakeholders.
- Assist the design team during project meetings by helping represent user needs and promoting alignment with design principles, under the guidance of more senior team members.
5. Growth and Learning
- Receive ongoing feedback from designers or senior to improve skills and design approach.
- Take part in internal training and team activities to develop capabilities.
- Contribute to project documentation and design processes.
6. Design Systems
- Help maintain the design system by contributing reusable components.
- Document patterns and guidelines under team supervision.
- Support the implementation of design standards in collaboration with developers.
7. Stakeholder Communication
- Prepare simple presentations of concepts and prototypes for the team and stakeholders.
- Welcome and integrate feedback constructively.
- Promote a user-centered approach throughout the project lifecycle.
Education
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, HCI, Cognitive Psychology, Digital Humanities or related fields or equivalent experience demonstrated through a portfolio.
- Experience: 0–2 years in UX/Experience Design (internships and relevant academic/personal projects count). Portfolio with 2–3 case studies showing an end‑to‑end process (problem, approach, prototype, results/lessons learned).
- Skills: Wireframing, prototyping, usability testing, information architecture, basic accessibility (WCAG), and basic usability measurement; confidence with Figma (Auto Layout, Variants, prototyping) and FigJam/Miro; familiarity with handoff/collaboration tools (Jira/Trello, Confluence/Notion).
- Knowledge: Principles of human‑centered design; foundations of research methods (interviews, surveys, basic analytics); understanding of core product/usability metrics (task success rate, error rate, time on task).
- Communication: Ability to explain decisions and trade‑offs to diverse audiences, clear written communication, active listening; English B2 or higher for documentation and team interactions.
