RINA is currently recruiting for a Junior Assessor Internship to join its office in Genova, Italy within the Transport & Infrastructure Certification Division.

Mission

The role focuses on supporting the evaluation of the impact of the Artificial Intelligence in the Safety Assessment of the Railway Signalling products and subsystems. Tha aim of the activities will be the evaluation of the potential of AI in supporting assessment activities at th time being carried out by expert personnel. #LI-DC2 

Key Accountabilities

Assessment and Validation Support:
Support in performing comparison among different AI tools feeding them with the Railway Safety Norms and some V&V documents already analysed by experts.
Delivery Assurance:
Ensure the timely and successful delivery of the evaluation of different AI tools under the supervision of an Assessor or Senior Assessor.
Compliance and Standards:
Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
Knowledge Transfer:
Support in the development of technical knowledge and contribute to effective knowledge transfer to other employees within the organization.
Client Feedback Analysis:
Make recommendations based on external client feedback to assist in the continuous improvement of service delivery.
Project Management Support:
Contribute to project management activities, including monitoring the progress of projects and providing support where applicable.
Design Verification Assistance:
Support in design verification according to reference standards, structural checks, and completeness checks on the quality system documentation.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering General or Political Science

Qualifications

  • Interest in the railway environment or related industries               
  • AI tools basic knowledge.
  • Exposure to railway regulations, safety management systems, or quality assurance within the transportation sector is desirable but not mandatory
  • Basic understanding of railway systems (e.g., signaling, track infrastructure, rolling stock) and their operations
  • Knowledge of railway safety standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., EN, UIC, ERA) is beneficial.
  • Ability to assist in executing assessments and validation activities on railway projects or systems.
  • Familiarity with technical reports and the ability to document assessment activities and outcomes accurately.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to identify compliance issues or deviations from standards.
