RINA is currently recruiting for a Internship - AI Ethics & Compliance Intern to join its office in Genova within the Global ESG & Compliance Division.

In line with the RINA Group Artificial Intelligence Policy, the Trainee (AI Governance, Ethics & Compliance) will learn how the organisation translates policy principles into day‑to‑day practices, communications, and governance artefacts. #LI-FS1
Key Accountabilities
- Policy implementation support: assist in operationalising the RINA AI Policy across functions (templates, guidance notes, FAQs, internal communications) and help maintain consistency of language and concepts across documents.
- Ethics & human rights: support ethical impact reflections for AI initiatives (e.g., fairness, non‑discrimination, dignity, fundamental values) and contribute to practical checklists to reduce bias and unfair outcomes.
- Regulatory compliance: monitor and summarise key obligations and developments relevant to AI governance (e.g., applicable regulations in jurisdictions where RINA operates) and help map requirements to internal controls.
- Security & data protection alignment: collaborate with ICT Security and Privacy colleagues to ensure governance materials reflect data protection and cybersecurity expectations, including approved‑tool usage and information security constraints.
- Responsibility & training: contribute to awareness materials and learning content that reinforce individual accountability and the requirement to use only company‑approved AI systems.
- Transparency: help draft user‑facing or internal notices that ensure people are aware when interacting with an AI system and can make informed choices.
- Auditability & documentation: support the collection/organisation of evidence (logs, documentation packs, decision records) needed to reconstruct AI decisions and processes.
Education
Qualifications
- Recent graduate (or final‑year student) in Law, Philosophy, or a related field, with demonstrated interest in AI, digital ethics, and governance.
- Thesis, coursework or research experience on topics such as AI ethics, technology law, data protection, human rights, philosophy of technology, or regulation of emerging technologies will be considered as a plus.
- Ability to read and synthesise policy/regulatory texts and translate them into practical guidance for non‑specialist audiences.
- Proficient knowledge of Italian and English (written and spoken). Knowledge of other languages is a plus.
- Comfort with multidisciplinary work (legal, ethical, organisational, and technical stakeholders).
- Curiosity and learning agility; strong analytical thinking; willingness to build AI literacy (concepts, use cases, limitations, risks).
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and a high standard of integrity and confidentiality.
- Problem‑solving and ability to convert principles into workable processes.
- Collaboration and communication skills; ability to facilitate workshops or capture decisions in meetings.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) for documentation and reporting.
