RINA is currently recruiting for a Infrastructure Sustainability Engineer - Maternity Cover to join its office in Genoa, Italy within the Civil Engineering Division.
Mission
The role focuses on contributing to environmental responsibility and promoting sustainable practices within infrastructure projects under the supervision of Senior Engineer. The role involves understanding how the infrastructure project is designed, constructed, and operated, while also comprehending the associated environmental impacts and adhering to sustainability goals and requirements.
Key Accountabilities
1. Sustainable Infrastructure Planning:
Collaborate with project teams to integrate sustainability considerations into the planning and design phases of infrastructure projects.
Identify opportunities to enhance environmental performance and reduce the ecological footprint of projects.
2. Environmental Impact Assessment:
Conduct thorough environmental impact assessments for infrastructure projects, evaluating potential effects on ecosystems, biodiversity, and communities.
3. Propose mitigation strategies to address identified environmental impacts.
Resource Optimization:
Work to optimize the use of materials and resources in infrastructure construction and maintenance.
4. Energy Efficiency:
Support the evaluation of energy consumption patterns in infrastructure projects and propose measures to enhance energy efficiency.
Integrate energy-efficient technologies and practices into project designs.
5. Waste Management:
Support the development of strategies for effective waste management throughout the project life cycle.
Promote recycling and waste reduction initiatives within infrastructure projects.
6. Compliance and Certification:
Stay updated on environmental regulations and industry standards related to infrastructure projects.
Support the certification process for sustainable building standards, such as LEED or other relevant certifications.
7. Stakeholder Engagement:
Engage with internal and external stakeholders to communicate sustainability objectives and foster collaboration.
Support the project teams in implementing sustainable practices.
8. Data Monitoring and Reporting:
Establish monitoring systems to track and report on the environmental performance of infrastructure projects.
Prepare comprehensive sustainability reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Education
Qualifications
– 2/3+ years of experience in infrastructure projects, environmental impact assessment, or sustainability consulting.
- Familiarity with sustainable design principles, carbon footprint assessment, and circular economy approaches in infrastructure development.
- Experience with Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), and sustainability reporting is advantageous.
- Understanding of sustainable infrastructure design, green construction methods, and energy-efficient technologies.
- Knowledge of international and national sustainability regulations and standards (e.g., EU Green Deal, UN Sustainable Development Goals, ESG criteria, and ISO sustainability standards).
- Familiarity with renewable energy integration, water conservation strategies, and low-carbon materials in infrastructure projects.
- Ability to analyze environmental data, carbon emissions, and resource efficiency metrics to support sustainability decision-making.
- Experience assisting in sustainability assessments and compliance reviews for infrastructure projects.
- Ability to work with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) frameworks to align projects with sustainability goals.
- Understanding of waste management, climate resilience planning, and biodiversity conservation in large-scale projects.
- Additional certifications in Sustainability, Green Building, or Environmental Management (e.g., LEED, BREEAM, Envision, ISO 14001) are a plus.
