RINA is currently recruiting for a Infrastructure Smart Inspection Engineer to join its office in Genoa, Rozzano and Rome (Italy) within the Operations and Maintenance Engineering Division.
Mission
The Infrastructure Smart Inspection Engineer at RINA Consulting S.p.A. plays a pivotal role in revolutionising infrastructure inspection by integrating cutting-edge smart technologies and data-driven methodologies. This role demands the application of advanced tools such as sensors, drones, robotics, and machine learning to optimise the safety, accuracy, and timeliness of infrastructure evaluations. The successful candidate will drive innovation within the Operations and Maintenance Engineering division, ensuring infrastructure assets are inspected with enhanced precision and reliability, supporting sustainable infrastructure management and maintenance planning. #LI-AL2
Key Accountabilities
Smart Inspection Technology Deployment:
Conduct thorough evaluations of emerging smart inspection technologies, carefully selecting the most effective sensors, unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), robotics, and other automated tools tailored to diverse infrastructure assets. Design comprehensive deployment plans that incorporate these technologies seamlessly into existing inspection workflows.
Data Collection and Analysis:
Develop robust protocols for data acquisition using state-of-the-art inspection equipment, ensuring high-quality, consistent data capture across sites. Employ sophisticated data analytics and visualization platforms to interpret complex datasets, derive actionable insights, and inform strategic decision-making.
Automated Inspection Systems:
Lead the design and deployment of automated inspection solutions that reduce manual intervention while enhancing efficiency. Collaborate continuously with control systems and automation engineers to ensure integrated functionality and operational excellence.
Remote Inspection Capabilities:
Implement remote infrastructure inspection frameworks leveraging real-time telecommunications and remote monitoring tools to enable safe and efficient inspections, minimising the need for onsite presence in hazardous locations.
Machine Learning for Defect Detection:
Develop and refine machine learning models dedicated to detecting structural defects and anomalies. Train algorithms on extensive datasets to improve accuracy in identifying potential faults and predicting maintenance requirements.
Documentation and Reporting:
Establish a rigorous system for capturing inspection results, producing detailed reports enriched with comprehensive data visualisations and tailored recommendations. Ensure documentation supports compliance, communication with stakeholders, and facilitates continuous improvement.
Maintenance Planning:
Leverage inspection analytics to contribute to predictive maintenance schedules, collaborating with cross-functional maintenance teams to prioritise repairs and optimise asset lifespan.
Compliance and Standards:
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant industry standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements. Ensure all smart inspection activities adhere strictly to these frameworks, embedding compliance into daily operations.
Safety Protocols:
Champion the development and enforcement of comprehensive safety procedures for both the deployment of inspection technologies and operational practices. Conduct risk assessments and implement proactive mitigation strategies to safeguard personnel and assets.
Training and Knowledge Transfer:
Design and deliver detailed training programmes to inspection teams, fostering proficiency in the use and maintenance of smart inspection technologies. Facilitate ongoing knowledge sharing to sustain high levels of competency and encourage adaptive learning within the team.
Education
Qualifications
Educational Background: A Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering General, or a closely related technical field is essential, providing a strong foundation in engineering principles relevant to infrastructure inspection. PhD Degree will be considered a plus.

Candidates should demonstrate resourcefulness and efficiency in workplace dynamics, coupled with a strong sense of ownership and a commitment to personal and professional growth. Language Skills
