RINA is currently recruiting for a I&M R&D Project Manager to join its office in Genoa (Italy) within the Innovation Proposal & Project Management Division.​

Mission

As an R&D Project Manager working on European-funded Research and Development (R&D) projects, your primary responsibility is to oversee both proposal development and project management, from initial concept and submission through to execution and final delivery.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Scouting and Analysis:
    - Collaborate with senior consultants and teams to conduct research and identify European funded R&D opportunities in the engineering sector.
    - Analyse project requirements, eligibility criteria, and funding structures to assess feasibility.
    2. Consortium Building Support:
    - Support the identification and outreach to potential partners, including research institutions, industry players, and other stakeholders.
    - Support the coordination of activities to establish project consortia that bring together complementary expertise.
    3. Proposal Development Assistance:
    - Work alongside senior consultants and partners to contribute to the development of project proposals for submission to European funding agencies.
    - Ensure alignment with technical, financial, and regulatory requirements.
    4. Project Management:
    - Develop and oversee project plans, ensuring alignment with scope, objectives, and funding requirements.Manage resources, budgets, and compliance, optimizing efficiency and financial control.- Lead interdisciplinary teams, fostering collaboration and innovation.- Identify and mitigate risks, ensuring timely delivery of project milestones.
    5. Stakeholder Communication:
    - Facilitate communication between the organization, consortium members, and relevant stakeholders.
    - Contribute to relationship-building efforts to enhance collaboration and project success.
    6. Compliance Oversight:
    - Work with senior consultants to ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual obligations related to European funding.
    - Contribute to the preparation of progress reports for funding agencies and internal management, in coordination with the RINA R&D Financial Manager.
    7. Risk Mitigation Assistance:
    - Identify potential risks affecting R&D projects and communicate them proactively.
    - Support mitigation strategies and help address deviations in project budgets and timelines.

Education

Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering

Qualifications

- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Building Engineering, Infrastructure and Transport Engineering, or an equivalent engineering discipline relevant to built, infrastructural, or natural assets
- PhD or 1-2 years of experience in the preparation and management of European and international R&D projects and proposals.
- Experience in areas such as:
  • resilience to multi-hazard exposure of built and hybrid assets
  • sustainable mobility and logistics systems (preferred)
- Fluent English (required)
- Good level of Italian (preferred)
