RINA is currently recruiting for a Green Fuels Consultant to join its office in Genoa within the Sustainability and Business Innovation Division.

Mission

At RINA Consulting S.p.A., in the role of Green Fuels Consultant, you will play a key role in supporting multidisciplinary teams involved in consultancy activities for certification projects (EU RED and similar schemes) related to innovative biofuels and renewable fuels (e.g. RFNBOs, hydrogen, SAF, HVO).

Key Accountabilities

  • Support the preparation and review of the technical documentation required for the certification processes of innovative fuel production, ensuring compliance with certification schemes such as ISCC EU and CertifHy.
  • Perform and verify detailed mass balance calculations for feedstocks, intermediates, and final products, in accordance with traceability and mass balance protocols across the entire production chain.
  • Support the calculation and assessment of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions over the production life cycle (well-to-gate and well-to-wheel), validating energy and environmental data.
  • Analyse renewable electricity sourcing methods (PPAs, guarantees of origin, self-consumption) in compliance with the Renewable Energy Directive (RED III).
  • Monitor regulatory and legislative developments in the field of hydrogen, RFNBOs, and renewable fuels at both European and Italian levels.
  • Contribute to the continuous development of technical and economic expertise in the alternative fuels sector by participating in training programmes, specialised workshops, and update initiatives on SAF, CCU, and emerging technologies.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree
Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or Energy Engineering

Qualifications

  • Good command of spoken and written English.
  • Knowledge of industrial processes and mass and energy balance principles.
  • Understanding of GHG emissions calculation methodologies and environmental performance indicators.Familiarity with renewable energy, PPAs, and electricity certification schemes.
  • Interest in the European regulatory framework for energy and climate (RED II / RED III, RFNBO delegated acts).
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel or similar tools.Academic or practical experience in electrolysis, fuel synthesis technologies, and CCU concepts will be considered a plus.
