RINA is currently recruiting for a Genoa Junior Stability Plan Approval Engineer to join its office in Genova, Italy within the Mediterranean and Africa Marine Division.​

Mission

The Junior Engineer supports the team in the review and approval of stability plans and in verifying compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements, contributing to technical analysis and the resolution of design issues under the supervision of senior engineers.
The role is involved in projects related to newbuildings, conversions, and ships in service, including yachts and special units. #LI-DC2

Key Accountabilities

Technical Support & Plan Review
- Support the review and verification of stability-related documentation, including: Stability booklets (intact & damage), Load Line assignments, Loading computer documentation and Ballast Water Management Plans.
- Ensure compliance with Classification Society Rules, Statutory Regulations, and applicable international standards.
- Assist in the evaluation of basic stability calculations and technical content under supervision.
Design & Construction Phase Support
- Provide technical assistance during design and construction phases on stability, load line, and ballast-related matters.
- Support the identification and resolution of minor design inconsistencies and conflicts between requirements and standards.
- Collaborate with design teams to ensure proper implementation of approved plans.
Data Collection & Documentation
- Gather technical data and information required for plan approval activities.
- Prepare and update technical documentation such as: Engineering reports, Progress documentation, Technical notes and Engineering drawings.
- Support communication and documentation exchanges with clients and authorities.
Site Activities & Field Support
- Participate in site visits and inspections for measurements and basic technical verifications under supervision.
- Support on-site data collection and reporting activities related to stability and plan approval.
Project Coordination & Management Support
- Assist in monitoring the technical and financial progress of assigned activities.
- Provide regular feedback to the Project Manager and escalate issues when required.
- Manage simple tasks or limited project activities following basic project management principles.
Stakeholder Communication & Coordination
- Provide technical support to contractors on behalf of senior engineers.
- Act as a liaison between engineering teams and construction personnel to facilitate information flow and issue resolution.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Naval Engineering or Mechanical Engineering

Qualifications

  • 0–2 years of experience in ship stability or marine engineering.
  • Internships or academic projects related to ship stability are considered a plus
  • Basic knowledge of stability regulations: IMO Codes, Classification Society Rules and International Maritime Safety Conventions
  • Basic ability to use stability calculation software and engineering tools.
  • Understanding of the principles of: intact and damage stability and effects of loading and ballast on ship stability
  • Good analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Willingness to learn and strong team-working attitude
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Organizational skills and ability to manage priorities
  • Quality-oriented and deadline-focused mindset
