RINA is currently recruiting for a Fire Testing Laboratory Technician to join its office in Genoa, Italy within the Mediterranean & Africa Certification Division.
Mission
As a Fire Test Laboratory Technician will play a crucial role in contributing to the planning and execution of tests in alignment with international standards and client requirements. This position requires a focus on safety protocols, accurate record-keeping, and contributing to the overall effectiveness of our fire testing laboratory. #LI-MC1
Key Accountabilities
- Test Planning and Execution:
- Contribute to the development of test plans following international standards, methods, and client requirements.
- Participate in conducting reaction and resistance to fire tests on materials and products. - Ensuring Compliance:
- Contribute to ensuring that all tests are conducted according to international standards and methods.
- Stay informed about industry-specific testing requirements and help in adjusting protocols accordingly.
- Contribute to identifying and addressing potential safety hazards in the laboratory.
- Contribute to the metrological traceability of the instruments and apparatuses. - Record Keeping:
- Contribute to maintaining accurate and detailed records of test procedures, results, and any anomalies observed during testing.
- Contribute to the preparation of comprehensive test reports for internal and external stakeholders. - Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
- Contribute to the operation and maintenance of specialized laboratory equipment used for fire testing.
- Report any identified issues with equipment functionality. - Contributing to Quality Assurance:
- Contribute to the implementation of quality control measures to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
- Manage and provide for calibration of the assigned appliances.
- Provide support in the development and implementation of quality control measures. - Collaboration:
- Collaborate with team members, researchers, and clients to understand testing requirements.
- Provide technical support during collaborative projects, offering assistance and learning from senior team members.
Education
Qualifications
- Basic experience or exposure to laboratory work, preferably with an interest in fire testing.
- Familiarity with fundamental concepts of international standards and testing methodologies related to fire safety.
- Basic proficiency in assisting with the planning and execution of reaction and resistance to fire tests.
- Developing analytical skills, with a focus on chemical or diagnostic testing.
- Awareness or willingness to learn about ISO IEC 17025 and ISO 9001 scheme is a plus.
