RINA is currently recruiting for a Direttore Operativo Opere Civili - Geologo to join its office in Genoa, Italy within the Civil Engineering Division.
Mission
The Civil Works Site Supervisor – Engineering Geologist plays a crucial role in overseeing the execution of civil and infrastructure works, with a particular focus on geotechnical and environmental aspects. Reporting to the Construction Manager and working within the Site Supervision Team, the role ensures that construction activities comply with technical specifications, environmental constraints, applicable regulations, and quality and safety standards. #LI-MT3
Key Accountabilities
Site Supervision and Technical Oversight
- Ensure all construction works, particularly those involving geotechnical and geological elements, are executed in accordance with approved project designs and relevant regulations.
- Monitor compliance with environmental prescriptions, geological constraints, and ground conditions during the execution phase.
Quality Control and Progress Monitoring
- Implement and oversee quality control procedures for geotechnical and civil construction activities.
- Collect and analyze on-site data (e.g., in-situ tests, boreholes, environmental and geotechnical monitoring).
- Prepare regular technical reports and documentation on project progress.
Document Management and Reporting
- Maintain accurate project records, including site reports, test results, certificates, drawings, and geological documentation.
- Manage design changes and project updates, assessing their geotechnical implications.
Technical Support and Coordination
- Support designers and contractors in resolving technical issues, proposing timely and effective engineering solutions.
- Participate in technical meetings and coordinate activities with regulatory authorities and stakeholders.
Safety and Environmental Compliance
- Monitor the correct application of safety standards for excavation works, underground construction, and slope stability.
- Assist in the preparation of Environmental Monitoring Plans and Geological Control Plans where applicable.
Education
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Master’s Degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, or a related field.
- Registered member of the Professional Geologists’ Association (Ordine dei Geologi or equivalent).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in construction supervision for major civil works, preferably in transport infrastructure (e.g., roads, railways).
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of geotechnical investigations, field testing, and environmental monitoring.
- Proficient in interpreting design documents and geotechnical reports.
- Familiarity with technical regulations (e.g., NTC, Construction Safety Regulations, Public Procurement Code).
- Skilled in preparing technical documentation and site reports.
