RINA is currently recruiting for a Direttore Lavori to join its office in Genoa, Italy within the Civil Engineering Division.
Mission
The Construction Supervisor (DIRETTORE LAVORI) is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all construction activities on-site, ensuring that the works comply with approved designs, technical specifications, applicable regulations, and safety and environmental standards. The role ensures that the project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality by managing contractors, suppliers, and internal teams throughout the execution phase. #LI-MT3
Key Accountabilities
Construction Supervision: Oversee all construction activities, ensuring that works are carried out in full compliance with project designs, technical specifications, and applicable regulations.
Document Validation: Approve and validate contractor deliverables and documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and contractual compliance.
Quality Control: Implement and monitor quality assurance procedures to maintain high construction standards throughout the project lifecycle.
Project Scheduling: Define, maintain, and update project schedules, identifying risks of delay and implementing corrective measures where needed.
Cost Control
Safety Compliance: Work closely with the Health & Safety Manager to ensure full compliance with occupational safety and environmental standards.
Issue Management: Identify, analyze, and resolve technical or operational issues arising during construction execution.Progress Reporting: Prepare and submit regular project status reports, highlighting key achievements, delays, risks, and mitigation actions.
Claims Management: Evaluate and manage contractor claims, ensuring timely and equitable resolution.
Change Management: Manage project scope changes, design variations, and schedule adjustments. Ensure changes are properly documented and approved.
Document Control
Team & Resource Coordination
Site Operations: Conduct regular site inspections, perform measurements, and provide direct on-site technical support.
Engineering Support: Collaborate with engineering teams to collect technical data, support permit applications, and submit required documentation to authorities.
Project Planning Support: Support the development of detailed work plans and project timelines under the guidance of senior engineers or project managers.
Technical Deliverables: Prepare and review technical reports, performance assessments, engineering drawings, and other project documentation.
Technical Reporting: Generate detailed progress and technical reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Quality Management: Understand and apply the company’s Quality Policy, ensuring that all activities comply with the company’s Quality Management System (QMS).
Education
Qualifications
Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
Professional Experience:
-
At least 7 years of experience in construction supervision, preferably in civil infrastructure or multidisciplinary engineering projects.

Proven track record of managing construction activities from mobilization to project completion.
Professional Certifications:

Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent is highly desirable.

Certification in Construction/Project Management (e.g., PMP, CCM) is an asset.

Familiarity with international standards and regulations (e.g., FIDIC, ISO, OSHA) is a plus.
Skills and Competencies:

Strong understanding of construction methods, engineering principles, and project management practices.

Excellent communication and leadership skills to manage multidisciplinary teams and coordinate with contractors and stakeholders.

Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and contract documents.

Experience using project management and scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
