RINA is currently recruiting for a DATACENTER Senior Project Engineer to join its office in Genoa, Italy within the Project Engineering Division.​

Mission

The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for coordinating the engineering activities required for the successful delivery of complex Data Center projects. Working within multidisciplinary project teams, the role ensures that engineering solutions are technically sound, fully coordinated and aligned with project objectives throughout all phases, from initial feasibility assessments to construction support.

The Senior Project Engineer works closely with the Project Manager, engineering disciplines, clients and external partners to facilitate efficient project execution, resolve technical issues and maintain high standards of quality, safety and engineering performance. The role combines strong technical expertise with practical project execution skills, ensuring that projects are delivered in accordance with client expectations. #LI-MT3

Key Accountabilities

Project Development

  • Contribute to the technical definition of Data Center projects during early development.
  • Review project requirements, identify engineering constraints, and support technical solution selection.
  • Define engineering scope, competencies, and key deliverables.

Engineering Coordination

  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities, ensuring complete, integrated, and consistent deliverables.
  • Facilitate communication between engineering teams to resolve interfaces and maintain alignment.
  • Review deliverables for compliance with project requirements, standards, and client specifications.
  • Promote practical, constructable, and high-quality engineering solutions.

Construction Support

  • Provide engineering support during construction, resolving on-site technical issues.
  • Coordinate responses to technical queries, design changes, and clarifications.
  • Collaborate with construction teams, contractors, and suppliers to support project execution.
  • Assist commissioning, project acceptance, and final handover.

Technical Leadership

  • Provide technical guidance to Project Engineers and junior staff.
  • Foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, and consistent engineering practices.
  • Support the Project Manager in setting engineering priorities and tracking technical progress.

Quality, Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure engineering activities comply with contracts, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Promote quality management principles throughout project execution.
  • Support the resolution of technical non-conformities.

Risk Management

  • Identify engineering risks and support mitigation strategies.
  • Evaluate technical impacts of design changes.
  • Monitor critical technical issues and recommend practical solutions.

Client Support

  • Build effective technical relationships with clients.
  • Participate in technical meetings, design reviews, and coordination workshops.
  • Ensure clear communication and effective management of client requirements.

Continuous Improvement

  • Promote engineering best practices and standardized technical approaches.
  • Encourage knowledge sharing and lessons learned across projects.
  • Contribute to improving engineering methodologies, standards, and project execution processes.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering General or Other

Qualifications

  • 8–12 years of professional engineering experience, including significant involvement in Data Center or other mission-critical infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience coordinating engineering activities throughout the full project lifecycle, including feasibility studies, concept design, Permitting design, detailed engineering, procurement support, construction support and commissioning activities.
  • Experience working on international projects or within multicultural engineering teams is highly desirable.
  • Good understanding of the engineering systems typically adopted in Data Centers, and coordination of CSA and MEP engineering expert including electrical power distribution, cooling systems, fire protection, building management systems and supporting infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple engineering disciplines and interface effectively with clients, consultants, contractors and equipment suppliers.
  • Good knowledge of project planning principles, engineering change management and technical risk assessment.
  • Familiarity with international engineering standards, quality management processes and health & safety requirements applicable to complex engineering projects.
  • Ability to evaluate technical alternatives and support practical engineering decisions considering quality, schedule, cost and constructability.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Fluent English is essential. Italian is required. Previous experience working outside Italy is considered a strong advantage.
  • Professional Engineer registration or equivalent professional qualification is considered beneficial

Compensation Data

The salary range and job grade for this position are defined based on objective, role-related criteria and responsibilities in accordance with CCNL RINA (CNEL code I480). The gross annual salary range foreseen is between €50000 and €70000 and will be finally defined on candidate’s professional experience, qualifications, competencies and overall alignment with the role. In addition, an annual variable compensation component is provided, based on both Company and individual performance objectives in accordance with the current policies and collective agreements. The overall compensation package is complemented by the Company's welfare.
