RINA is currently recruiting for a Construction Safety Senior Engineer to join its office in Genoa, Italy within the Civil Engineering Division.

Mission

Join our team at RINA Consulting S.p.A. to play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of construction operations in the infrastructure sector. Collaborate closely with the Managing Engineer, focusing on implementing and maintaining robust safety measures and procedures within construction sites.

Key Accountabilities

  • Identify, assess and mitigate safety construction risks, ensuring that all projects comply with relevant safety regulations and industry standards
  • Ensure that all construction activities comply with the applicable local, state, and / or federal safety regulations, as well as company safety policies and procedures
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards, unsafe practices, and unsafe conditions. Develop and drive the implementation corrective actions as needed, to assure compliance with safety and health program requirements; prepare technical reports of inspection findings; and develop corrective actions
  • Assist in the development of project-specific safety plans, risk assessments, and method statement
  • Conduct through investigations of accidents and near misses, report findings, and recommend preventive measures to avoid recurrence
  • Verify safety training to construction personnel, subcontractors, and other stakeholders as required
  •  Verify or develop the emergency response plans for each construction site, ensuring that all personnel are aware of procedures
  •  Perform or verify risk assessments for various construction activities and propose control measures to mitigate potential risks
  • Verify the proper use, maintenance, and availability of safety equipment and personal protective gear
  • Be able to team-work and assist engineers or engineering teams on construction sites  
  • Develop project schedules and deliverable timelines under the supervision of more experienced engineers
  • Prepare or verify the technical deliverables (technical reports, Health Safety Plan, Safety and Coordination Plan, project performance documentations and engineering drawings, etc.)
  • Prepare progress technical reports
  • Possibility of taking on direct roles as Responsabile dei Lavori (RdL), Construction Site Safety Coordinator in the design phase (CSP) and in the execution phase (CSE) in agreement with the Head of Safety Construction RINA
  • Be aware and understand the Quality Policy and ensuring that all assigned activities are executed in accordance with the RINA QMS #LI-MT3

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Construction and Environment or Civil Engineering

Qualifications

  • Relevant senior experience in a similar role, or in any case direct experience as a Construction Site Safety Coordinator, RSPP, CSE Assistant - It is essential to be enabled with Training Course for Construction Site Safety Coordinator – D. Lgs. 81/08
  • Regulatory Compliance Expertise (Comprehensive understanding of local, state, and federal safety regulations, as well as company safety policies and procedures & Ability to ensure that all construction activities comply with relevant regulations and standards)
  • Site Inspection and Analysis Skills (Experience in conducting regular site inspections to identify hazards, unsafe practices, and conditions & Proficiency in developing and implementing corrective actions to address safety and health program requirements)
  • Safety Planning and Documentation (Capability to assist in the development of project-specific safety plans, risk assessments, and method statements & Skills in preparing technical reports of inspection findings and developing corrective actions)
  •  Accident Investigation and Prevention (Ability to conduct thorough investigations of accidents and near misses, report findings, and recommend preventive measures to avoid recurrence)
  • In-depth knowledge of safety in the field of construction machinery and equipment, as well as safety when working at height (scaffolding, lifelines, rope work).
