RINA is currently recruiting for a Construction Safety Engineer - Categorie Protette to join its office in Genoa, Italy within the Civil Engineering Division.​

Mission

We are looking for a Construction Safety Engineer, registered as a protected category candidate under Italian Law 68/99.
The role is focuses on ensuring the safety of construction operations in the infrastructure environment. (e.g. the construction site’s safety processes and procedures, equipment, workers, ecc...) under the coordination of Senior Engineer or Principal Engineer. #LI-MB4

Key Accountabilities

- Assist in the identification, assessment and mitigatation of safety construction risks, ensuring that all projects comply with relevant safety regulations and industry standards
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards, unsafe practices, and unsafe conditions. Collaborate to the development and implementation of corrective actions as needed, to assure compliance with safety and health program requirements; prepare technical reports of inspection findings
- Assist in the development of project-specific safety plans, risk assessments, and method statement
- Review construction plans to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations
- Assist in organizing and conducting safety training sessions for construction site personnel
- Assist in developing and implementing emergency response plans for construction sites
- Assist in performing and verification of risk assessments for various construction activities and propose control measures to mitigate potential risks
- Participate in incident investigations to determine the root cause of accidents and near misses
- Provide recommendations for corrective actions and preventive measures.                          
- Provide direct day-to-day support and oversight of project elements
- Be able to team-work and assist engineers or engineering teams on construction sites
- Develop project schedules and deliverable timelines under the supervision of more experienced engineers
- Prepare the technical deliverables (technical reports, Health Safety Plan, Safety and Coordination Plan, project performance documentations and engineering drawings, etc.)
- Prepare progress technical reports
- Be aware and understand the Quality Policy and ensuring that all assigned activities are executed in accordance with the RINA QMS

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Construction and Environment
High School Diploma/GED in Civil Engineering

Requirements

  1. Mandatory requirement:
    Registered as a protected category candidate under Italian Law 68/99 (collocamento mirato).
  2. Knowledge of Safety Regulations and Standards:

    • Understanding of relevant safety regulations and industry standards pertaining to construction projects.
    • Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate safety construction risks to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
  3. Site Inspection and Reporting Skills:

    • +3 years Experience in conducting regular site inspections to identify hazards, unsafe practices, and conditions. 
    • Proficiency in preparing technical reports of inspection findings and collaborating on corrective action implementation.
  4. Safety Planning and Documentation:

    • Capability to assist in the development of project-specific safety plans, risk assessments, and method statements.
    • Skill in reviewing construction plans to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  5.  Training in construction safety (120 hours) - CSP/CSE Dlgs 81/08
  6. Fluency in Italian in required

Compensation Data

The salary range and job grade for this position are defined based on objective, role-related criteria, and responsibilities in accordance with CCNL RINA (CNEL code I480).

The gross annual salary range foreseen is between €33,000 and €45,000 and will be finally defined on candidate’s professional experience, qualifications, competencies, and overall alignment with the role.

In addition, an annual variable compensation component is provided, based on both Company and individual performance objectives in accordance with the current policies and collective agreements.

The overall compensation package is complemented by the Company's welfare.
