RINA is currently recruiting for a Capital Projects & Sustainable Finance Advisory Project Manager to join its office in Genoa or Rome (Italy) within the Management Consulting for Strategic Projects Division.

Mission

RINA is seeking a Project Manager to join its Capital Projects & Sustainable Finance Advisory team within the Management Consulting & Sustainability Business Unit.

The role supports public and private clients across the full lifecycle of capital‑intensive investment projects, from opportunity identification to project delivery. Key responsibilities include assisting with participation in EU and national tenders, ensuring consistency with EU and national policy frameworks, and structuring financial instruments in collaboration with banks, promotional institutions, and financial partners.

The Project Manager works across strategy development, financing design, and execution, integrating financial, regulatory, and technical inputs to facilitate the development and implementation of sustainable and bankable investment initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

The new team member will be involved across the full lifecycle of capital-intensive projects, covering strategy definition, financing design, and project implementation.

Key activities include:

  • Support Clients in the early strategic phase, helping define investment and financing strategies aligned with EU and national policy frameworks.
  • Provide advisory on policy compliance and eligibility criteria of relevant funding programmes, and analyze business plans to ensure alignment with targeted financial instruments.
  • Assist Clients in applications for grants, subsidized loans, or blended finance schemes, ensuring strategic and regulatory coherence.
  • Support Clients during interlocution phases with national and European entities involved in the financing process, facilitating effective communication and alignment with institutional requirements.
  • Coordinate the preparation of techno‑economic proposals, integrating inputs from internal colleagues and ensuring a consistent value proposition that delivers end‑to‑end support to the Client across the entire funding project lifecycle.
  • Support participation in European Commission tenders by coordinating internal capabilities and expertise, with a focus on policy‑driven green transition initiatives.
  • Act as an interface across divisions, coordinating operational teams during project implementation and PMO functions, supporting monitoring, reporting, and project risk‑mitigation activities while ensuring alignment with Client expectations and approved project scope.

 

In general, the resource will have the following responsibilities.

1. Project Leadership:

- Be active part of a team of consultants, playing as a reference point for other colleagues and coordinating their efforts to achieve project objectives

2. Client Engagement:

- Act as a key point of contact for Clients, understanding their business goals and challenges and providing strategic guidance and insights

3. Continuous Improvement:

- Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies, and maintain ongoing monitoring of national and EU funding opportunities and the evolving policy framework, ensuring timely alignment with Client needs and emerging strategic priorities.

4. Presentations and Reporting:

- Prepare and deliver presentations to Clients, effectively communicating project updates, findings, and recommendations

Competencies

  • Master’s degree in Engineering (Energy, Industrial or related fields), Economics, Finance, or Business Management
  • An international double degree is considered a strong plus
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in a similar role, in a consultancy firm or in a result driven working company
  • Knowledge in national/EU funding programmes and policy framework
  • Professional Knowledge of spoken and written English language
  • Professional experience with MS Excel (creating spreadsheets and using advanced formulas) and PowerPoint for executive‑level presentations
  • Empathy with Clients to understand their specific needs and challenges, maintaining strong relationships
  • Accuracy, attention to detail and problem-solving skills in a proactive approach
  • Team working, developing inter-team collaboration inside and outside the organization
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (both oral and written)
  • Availability to travel both nationally and internationally, as required by project needs
