RINA is currently recruiting for a Poland Senior Electrical Plan Approval Centre Engineer to join its office in Gdańsk within the North Europe Marine Division.
Mission
This role focuses on performing detailed plan and design reviews, resolving issues related to conflicting design requirements, ensuring client requirements and applicable standards are met
Projects could include the approval of new building, conversion, and existing vessels and yachts.
Key Accountabilities
- Review and approve drawings of electrical and automation systems, including autonomous ship technology and cyber security, on ships, offshore units, and marine equipment, in compliance with Class Rules and Statutory Regulations, for new buildings, ships in service, and ship’s conversions.
- Assist clients during the design and construction phase, providing guidance and support related to electrical and automation systems on ships, including autonomous ship technology and cyber security.
- Resolve issues related to conflicting design requirements and material standards.
- Perform assessments and provide specialist advice for service delivery, research or development work within agreed broad parameters that include budget constraints and contractual requirements.
- Oversee and manage day-to-day project elements, visit sites to take measurements.
- Ensure correct and up-to-date data is used and complete documentation is submitted to officials and other day-to-day duties.
- Review the project deliverables (technical reports, project performance documentations and engineering drawings, etc.).
- Review progress reports and take appropriate action to ensure requirements are met.
- Take ownership and responsibility over the financial progress of assigned tasks.
- Understand and apply project management concepts providing feedback to project manager, serve as reference for the escalation of issues.
- Manage simple and complex projects assigned applying project management concepts and techniques.
- Assess complex structural problems for internal/external clients to determine solutions.
- Answer complex contractor questions on behalf of the supervising engineer, and serve as liaisons between engineering and construction personnel.
Education
Qualifications

Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in ship stability analysis, ship design, or marine operations, preferably in a classification society, shipyard, or maritime consultancy.
- Practical experience in reviewing and approving stability plans and calculations for new and existing ships, ensuring compliance with international regulations (e.g., SOLAS, IMO stability criteria).
- Strong hands-on experience with stability software tools, load-line assessments, and conducting stability analyses for different vessel types.
- Familiarity with marine operations and the ability to interpret technical documentation related to vessel stability, including stability booklets, load-out plans, and structural assessments.

Technical Skills:
- Good working knowledge of ship stability principles, including metacentric height (GM), intact stability, and damage stability.
- Experience with stability analysis tools/software (e.g., Maxsurf, Stability software, or similar).
- Ability to perform load line calculations and assess the stability of various vessel types (e.g., cargo ships, tankers, passenger vessels).
- Understanding of the regulations governing stability, such as those set by IMO (International Maritime Organization), and the ability to apply them in practical scenarios.
