RINA is currently recruiting for a Structural Engineer to join its office in Fort Lauderdale within the Marine Design & Engineering Division.
Mission
We are seeking a Structural Engineer (1–3 years experience) to support marine and offshore structural design activities. This role focuses on hands‑on structural calculations, classification rule compliance, and finite‑element modeling. The ideal candidate is an early‑career engineer with strong analytical skills, proficiency in structural design tools, and an interest in ship structures and classification requirements.
This is an individual contributor role—not a project‑management position—and is best suited for candidates who enjoy technical engineering work and structural problem‑solving.#FORESHIP #LI-MM4
Key Accountabilities
- Perform classification structural design and calculations for marine structures.
- Develop and interpret structural drawings using AutoCAD.
- Prepare structural analysis reports and ensure compliance with Class Rules.
- Conduct finite-element modeling (FEM) using FEMAP (preferred) or similar tools.
- Execute Rule-based calculations using Nauticus, RuleCalc, or related software.
- Apply ship acceleration loads, wind criteria, and structural standards to calculations and design work.
- Support senior engineers with detailed engineering tasks and documentation.
- Review and update spreadsheets and engineering tools for accuracy and consistency.
Education
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of structural engineering experience, preferably in the marine, offshore, or heavy‑industry sectors.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Strong Excel skills (ability to build, modify, and interpret engineering spreadsheets).
- Experience with Nauticus, RuleCalc, or similar classification tools.
- Hands‑on experience with FEMAP (preferred) or other FEM software.
- Understanding of ship structural principles, accelerations, and wind criteria.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with classification societies (ABS, DNV, Lloyd’s, BV, etc.).
- Knowledge of structural drawings, marine structural details, and rule-based methodologies.
- Familiarity with marine design practices and terminology.
