RINA is currently recruiting for a Railway Field Laboratory Junior Assessor to join its office in Firenze, Italy within the Transport & Infrastructure Certification Division.​

Mission

As a Railway Field Laboratory Junior Assessor at RINA Services S.p.A., you will be integral to advancing the quality and reliability of railway component testing. Your mission will focus on supporting mechanical tests in the field, contributing to the development of innovative testing methods while ensuring strict compliance with ISO 17025 accreditation standards. Key Accountabilities

Assessment & Validation Activities: Support senior assessors in the execution of railway assessment, inspection, verification, and validation activities, ensuring compliance with internal procedures, accreditation requirements, applicable regulations, and industry standards.

Project Delivery & Quality Assurance: Contribute to the delivery of assigned project activities, ensuring that work is completed on schedule, within scope, and in accordance with established quality requirements.

Technical Project Support: Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to achieve project objectives, applying structured analytical and problem-solving approaches to support efficient and effective execution.

Compliance & Conformity Assessment: Perform reviews, inspections, and technical evaluations in line with accreditation schemes, regulatory frameworks, and railway sector requirements, supporting continuous improvement and compliance management.

Technical Knowledge Sharing: Contribute to the development and dissemination of technical expertise by documenting findings, participating in training initiatives, and promoting best practices within the Railway Field Laboratory and wider organization.

Client Focus & Continuous Improvement: Support the collection and analysis of client feedback, identifying opportunities to enhance service quality, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Project Monitoring & Coordination: Assist in project planning and tracking activities, including progress monitoring, resource coordination, documentation management, and stakeholder reporting.

Design Review & Verification: Support design verification and conformity assessment activities through the application of relevant railway standards, technical reviews, structural assessments, and audits of quality management documentation.

Field Activities & Travel: Participate in on-site inspections, testing, and assessment activities across multiple project locations, with availability for frequent travel (50%-75%), ensuring effective client engagement and operational excellence.

Education

Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Qualifications

Basic knowledge of railway assessment, verification, validation, inspection, and testing activities.
Familiarity with European and international railway regulations, standards, and technical specifications.
Valid Category B driving licence and willingness to travel frequently for on-site activities.
Good command of English (minimum B2 level), both written and spoken.
Analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to quality and compliance requirements.
Previous experience (0-2 years) in the railway sector will be considered a plus
Passion for the railway industry, combined with a proactive mindset and a strong willingness to develop technical expertise and grow within a dynamic international environment.

Compensation Data

The salary range and job grade for this position are defined based on objective, role-related criteria, and responsibilities in accordance with CCNL RINA (CNEL code I480).

The gross annual salary range foreseen is between €31,000 and €38,000 and will be finally defined on candidate’s professional experience, qualifications, competencies, and overall alignment with the role.

In addition, an annual variable compensation component is provided, based on both Company and individual performance objectives in accordance with the current policies and collective agreements.

The overall compensation package is complemented by the Company's welfare.
