Mission

As a Senior Energy Storage Solutions Consultant, you will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing various aspects of renewable energy projects, with a focus on energy storage systems (ESS) integration. You will act as an Independent or Owner's Engineer, pending on project requirements. Your role will involve conducting technology and structural studies, and evaluating electrical designs for projects. Additionally, you will be involved in reviewing contractual documentation, environmental studies, permitting documents, health & safety reports, grid offers, and connection agreements. Furthermore, you will execute feasibility studies and contribute to the preliminary design of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and renewable power plants.

Key Accountabilities

Independent or Owner's Engineer:
 - Lead and manage energy storage projects from feasibility through to operational phases. This includes technical design, due diligence, construction monitoring, acceptance testing, and performance analysis.
 - Apply established project management methodologies to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. Coordinate cross-functional teams and manage project risks effectively.
- Work closely with clients to understand their needs, deliver high-quality consulting services, and ensure client satisfaction. Provide clear, concise communication and reporting on technical findings and project progress, tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Conduct Technology and Structural Studies:
 - Assess the technical aspects and structural integrity of energy storage systems.
- Provide in-depth technical knowledge and insights on energy storage systems, predominantly focusing on Li-ion technology, but also covering other technologies such as flow batteries, compressed air, and hydrogen storage.
 - Stay updated on emerging technologies in energy storage and recommend innovative solutions for project optimization.
Evaluate Electrical Design Projects:
 - Review electrical design plans for renewable energy projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
 - Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost optimization in electrical systems.
Review Contractual Documentation and Environmental Studies:
 - Examine contractual agreements and ensure alignment with project objectives and legal standards.
 - Assess environmental impact studies and recommend mitigation measures to minimize ecological footprint and achieve permitting conditions.
Assess Permitting and Health & Safety Reports:
 - Review permitting documentation to ensure regulatory compliance and facilitate project approval processes.
 - Evaluate health & safety reports to identify potential hazards and implement preventive measures.
Analyse Grid Offers and Connection Agreements:
 - Assess grid offers and connection agreements to facilitate the integration of renewable energy projects into the existing power grid.
 - Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve any issues related to grid connection and ensure seamless project implementation.
- Assist in grid modelling, reliability assessments, and the integration of energy storage systems with existing infrastructure, including ancillary services.
Execute Feasibility Studies:
 - Conduct comprehensive feasibility studies to evaluate the technical, economic, and environmental viability of energy storage projects.
 - Provide recommendations based on cost-benefit analysis and risk assessment.
Cross-Sector Expertise: 
 - Utilize your knowledge of other renewable energy technologies (e.g., wind, solar PV) to provide integrated energy solutions that meet the diverse needs of our clients.
Contribute to Preliminary Design of BESS and Renewable Power Plants:
 - Collaborate with engineering teams to develop preliminary designs for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and renewable power plants.
 - Ensure that designs are optimized for efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
H&S Framework:
 - Responsible for ensuring personal and others' health and safety (H&S) by using safety measures correctly, complying with company and client H&S policies, and completing mandatory training. Report incidents, near misses, and unsafe behaviors as per company guidelines. Authorized to stop work if operations are unsafe and report to management.

Education

Qualifications

Technical Knowledge:
 - Strong understanding of energy storage applications, including current market trends, revenue models, and integration challenges.
 - In-depth knowledge of Li-ion energy storage technology, with experience in alternative technologies being beneficial.
 - Familiarity with the technical, contractual, and commercial aspects of energy storage systems.
 - Understanding of economics and policy as they relate to energy storage system integration.
 - Understanding of regulatory frameworks and permitting processes related to renewable energy projects.
Experience:
 - Minimum of 8 years of experience in consulting, managing clients, and delivering services within the renewable energy sector, particularly in energy storage.
 - Experience with stand-alone and hybrid energy storage systems, including their design and operation.
 - Familiarity with electricity policy, networks, and their impact on energy storage deployment.
 - Experience with contracts, procurement, and technical due diligence processes.
Skills:
 - Strong project management skills, with a track record of successful project delivery.
 - Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information for non-technical stakeholders.
 - Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
