Combustion Station Laboratory Technician

Mission

As a Combustion Station Laboratory Technician at RINA Consulting - CSM S.p.A., you will play a crucial role in supporting research and development efforts related to industrial burners and combustion chambers. Your expertise will be instrumental in executing precise tests, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of data collection, and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to innovate and improve combustion technologies. This position requires a meticulous approach, hands-on technical skills, and a commitment to safety and quality within our Dalmine facility.

Key Accountabilities

Test Systems & Sample Management  Receive, identify, prepare, and assemble test samples.Handle and store materials correctly to preserve their integrity.Prepare and configure test plants and instrumentation according to procedures, instructions, and best practices.Adapt test system configurations to meet specific test requirements.Perform minor mechanical operations (e.g. drilling, cutting, welding) to adapt samples or test equipment.Operate material handling equipment (e.g. forklifts, overhead cranes) in compliance with safety rules.

Test Execution Execute tests in accordance with internal best practices and test procedures.Perform testing activities in industrial facilities and open-field environments.Operate industrial burners, high-temperature combustion chambers, descaling systems, and related supply and exhaust lines.Safely manage pressurized gas supply systems.Handle gases such as hydrogen (H₂), carbon dioxide (CO₂), methane (CH₄), nitrogen (N₂), and their mixtures in compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.Proactively communicate test progress to supervisors and stakeholders.

Data Acquisition & AnalysisEnsure integrity of physical connections between probes and data acquisition systems.Configure data acquisition systems according to test procedures.Record test data, measurements, and observations accurately during execution.

Collaboration & Engineering Support Collaborate with the Engineering team to support test development and continuous improvement initiatives.Provide technical input on testing methods, equipment, and configuration details.

Equipment MaintenancePerform routine maintenance to ensure reliability and accuracy of laboratory equipment.Support extraordinary maintenance activities as directed by Engineering.Identify, report, and support resolution of equipment issues.Support external suppliers during maintenance activities.Organize and optimize laboratory layout to ensure safety, order, and operational efficiency.

Quality & SafetyEnsure compliance with testing procedures, quality standards, and control measures.Support the implementation and improvement of quality assurance processes.Strictly adhere to safety guidelines and maintain a safe, clean, and organized working environment.

Documentation & ReportingMaintain accurate records of test execution, calibration, and maintenance activities.Prepare test reports and summaries when required.

Education

Qualifications

Basic proficiency in English, both written and spoken, to facilitate communication within an international working environment.Attitude to teamwork.Willingness to ensure operational flexibility and coverage as required for the testing processes.
