RINA is currently recruiting for a Cyprus Marine Surveyor to join its office in Limassol within the South Europe Marine Division.
Mission
A surveyor in a classification society plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and quality of ships and marine assets. The main responsibilities are aimed at verifying that vessels meet international and classification society standards. #LI-DP1
Key Accountabilities
- Act as a professional specialist in the application of classification society Rules, statutory regulations, and international requirements (e.g. SOLAS and MARPOL)
- Perform routine and special surveys on classed vessels, offshore units, and at manufacturers’ sites to verify compliance with classification and statutory requirements.
- Ensure vessels comply with applicable international regulations and support ISM/ISPS/MLC audits as required.
- Prepare technically accurate, clear, and timely inspection and survey reports using standardized templates and digital reporting tools.
- Maintain survey files and documentation in an orderly and up-to-date manner.
- Provide technical advice to clients, shipowners, and manufacturers on classification, design, construction and maintenance.
- Liaise with clients, port authorities, and other relevant parties to resolve technical and regulatory issues.
- Recommend practical solutions and new approaches to problems encountered during surveys.
- Maintain active awareness of regulatory updates, new technologies, and developments affecting assigned responsibilities.
- Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous professional development.
- Uphold high ethical standards, ensuring integrity, transparency, and impartiality in all survey activities.
Qualifications
- Formal qualification in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or Marine Engineer.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as surveyor or as owner superintendent or as shipyard quality control inspector or as a Chief Engineer (on board of merchant ships).
- Previous experience as a surveyor of IACS Classification Societies would be a significant advantage.
- Practical and theoretical knowledge of hull, machinery, materials, equipment and safety systems of ships.
- Fluent English language, both spoken and written.
- Physically able to work in confined spaces, hazardous atmospheres, extreme temperatures and weather conditions, etc. and therefore not suffering from allergies, vertigo, claustrophobia, etc.
- Willingness and ability to travel both domestically and internationally.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, client-focused attitude.
- High standards of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
- Well-organized, proactive, and able to manage time and documentation effectively.
- Valid driver’s license and passport.
