RINA is currently recruiting for a Project Engineer - Highway to join its office in Columbus, OH or Chicago, IL within the North America Infrastructure & Mobility Division. Qualified candidates seeking to work hybrid or remote from anywhere in Ohio or IL may be considered.

Join our growing Highway/Roadway Team and be a critical member of a regional design team as it expands its presence.
 
The Project Engineer is an active participant in the project execution, calculation, and design of engineering projects including gathering/analyzing technical data to prepare detailed engineering designs and drawings, as well as monitoring/coordinating the technical deliverables required for client projects.

 

This Project Engineer may oversee the technical work of one or more Staff Engineer(s), Engineer(s), Designer(s), and/or Drafter(s) and delegate work, as appropriate to engineering team members. Additionally, the Engineer acts as the liaison between the Project Manager and other project team members, relaying important and relevant project information. The Project Engineer may accompany the Project Manager on site visits and meetings with clients, and participate in proposal writing (RFP’s), setting up project scopes, defining deliverables, and monitoring schedules and budget costs.     
 

Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for designs, CAD drawings, and specifications on assigned projects, under the guidance/direction of Project Manager
  • Works with other engineers on a project team, maintaining effective communication with project team members, other departments, suppliers, and clients
  • Coordinates with drafters, designers, and staff engineers within project team
  • Completes drawings/project responsibilities within scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Reviews drawings for completeness, accuracy, and constructability.
  • Develops conceptual and basic engineering documents including studies, design criteria, equipment specifications, etc.
  • Utilizes computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks
  • Observes safety and security procedures
     

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution required
  • 8+ years of experience in design engineering, preferably on ODOT, IDOT or other roadway transportation projects
  • Professional Engineering License in Ohio and/or Illinois.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation Open Roads Design 
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and coordinate with others on larger, multidiscipline projects.
  • Proficiency in standard engineering procedures and project management methodologies and techniques.
  • Working knowledge of computer-aided design software and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering required (i.e., AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.) 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license 
  • Local or regional travel (i.e. job sites) anticipated based upon business need
