RINA is currently recruiting for a Senior CAD Designer to join its office in Chicago, Houston or Sunrise, FL within the Plant Engineering Division.
Mission
The Senior CAD Designer is responsible for gathering and analyzing technical data to prepare basic engineering designs and drawings for client projects. The individual works with other drafters, designers, and/or engineers on a project team, maintaining effective communication with project team members, other departments, suppliers, and clients. The Senior CAD Designer supervises and provides coaching/mentorship to a small team of CAD Designers or CAD Drafters. Operates under minimal supervision; assignments are given in general terms and are subject to review upon completion, except where tasks are well defined by established standards, policies, and procedures.
Key Accountabilities
• Create conceptual and detailed design layouts and array plans for applications, permits, and construction details and documents
• Utilize computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks
• Collect and prepare data/information and perform basic design calculations; prepare drawings and technical specifications while ensuring design accuracy and compliance with standards, codes, and acceptable engineering practices
• Perform and/or review field survey work and evaluate collected data; assist with field engineering support and inspections as needed
• Observe safety and security procedures; report potentially unsafe conditions; use equipment and materials properly

Qualifications

Experience:
- Extensive experience in CAD design, typically ranging from 5 to 10 years or more, depending on the seniority of the role.
- Demonstrated proficiency in using CAD software, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, Siemens NX, or other relevant tools.
- Experience with 3D modeling, drafting, and creating detailed technical drawings.
- Previous experience in a senior or leadership role within a design team, with responsibilities such as mentoring junior designers, overseeing projects, and collaborating with other departments.

Technical Skills:
- Expertise in CAD software and proficiency in creating complex 2D and 3D designs.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, design standards, and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and the ability to create detailed technical drawings with accurate dimensions and tolerances.
- Familiarity with industry-specific standards and regulations related to the products or projects being designed.
- Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems and collaboration tools for managing design data and documents.
- Proficiency in related software tools such as CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software, FEA (Finite Element Analysis) software, or rendering software may be beneficial depending on the industry.
