RINA is currently recruiting for a Project Support Specialist -Rail & Transit to join its office in Chicago, IL within the North America Infrastructure & Mobility Division.
Compensation Data
$90,000 - $110,000 commensurate with education and experience.
Mission
The Project Support Specialist will support the delivery of Passenger and Freight Rail Programs through collaborative teamwork, technical excellence, and continuous professional growth, while contributing to high-quality project outputs under the direction of a Project/Program Manager.
Key Accountabilities
- Facilitate overall coordination of complex Passenger and Freight Programs.
- Operationally coordinate projects for procurement support services, such as vendor readiness, expediting, and third-party activities;
- Drive the compilation of project contract documents, including technical specifications, design calculation, material quantities, and estimate of cost;
- Facilitate development and evaluation of railway feasibility/concept studies;
- Plan schedule of workload and assign personnel, ensuring that the project requirements are understood and met by field personnel;
- Monitor/advise Project/Program Manager on financial health of project, leading the project through RINA’s financial processes.
- Manage relationships with project stakeholders, including internal and external clients and vendors, keeping the stakeholders informed of progress and issues in order to manage expectations on all client needs;
- Ensure services are supplied to clients’ (both internal and external) requirements within the quality, safety, timeliness and cost targets;
- Ensure that all project data entry into RINA systems is performed in accordance with the agreed systems and procedures;
- Complete project responsibilities per the directed scope, budget, and schedule and in accordance with QA/QC procedures.
- Ensure that all assigned activities are executed in accordance with the RINA Quality Management System;
- Observe safety and security procedures; report potentially unsafe conditions and use equipment and materials properly.
- Assist field personnel in the execution of their assigned responsibilities;
- Evaluate field personnel performance;
- Comply with HSE Policies, Procedures and Guidelines;
- Be aware and understand the Quality Policy;
- Be aware of quality of his/her own work and its impact on service delivery and contribute to the QMS improvement according to his/her role;
- Support and participate in the organization’s environmental and safety program to conform to ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements;
- Perform other duties associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, construction management or equivalent field of study. Relevant years of experience may be considered in lieu of education.
- 5+ years of project and document control experience within the transportation infrastructure industry. Rail preferred.
- Strong technical written and verbal communications skills including the ability to maintain effective communication with project team members, engineering disciplines, and clients.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
