RINA is currently recruiting for a Project Controls Specialist to join its Project office in Chicago, IL within the North America Infrastructure & Mobility Division.

 

Please note that this position will work from our project office located at 11203 S. Corliss Ave, Chicago, IL 60628. Public transportation is not available.

 

 

Compensation Data

$95,000 - $115,000 commensurate with education and experience.

Mission

The Project Controls Specialist will support the project controls management team by providing technical services to plan, monitor, track, and forecast project performance related to cost and schedule for projects in various lifecycle stages including planning, design, construction, and close-out.   This role will involve support for the Cost, Changes and Claims, and Schedule. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Support the investigation, analysis and negotiation of change orders.
  • Support monitoring of change order trends
  • Support the development and implementation of change order process improvements and efficiency.
  • Review project schedules in various software tools
  • Develop and maintain complex budget, spending, and forecasting cost tools with accuracy
  • Coordinate with project staff to ensure accuracy of cost and schedule updates and objective performance measurement
  • Contribute to project reporting, providing accurate and timely updates of data
  • Track key project controls issues to resolution with project team (i.e. outstanding forecasts, baseline changes, variances)
  • Contribute to risk assessments
  • Perform “what-if” schedule and budget scenarios
  • Maintain proper document control of project documents, including configuration management of record documents
  • Develop contract administration documents and plans
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Engineering, Business, or Construction Management
  • Experience working on transit or transportation related projects.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • 5+ years’ experience supporting the performance of scope management, planning & scheduling to include resource and procurement planning, estimating/cost management, risk management and project performance monitoring and reporting.
  • Knowledge and experience with planning, tracking, and controlling cost management aspects of projects
  • Working knowledge of project scheduling software; Primavera P6 preferred
  • Strong technical written and verbal communications skills including the ability to present complex data in easy-to-understand ways for internal and external reviews.
  • Self-starter who can work independently as well as part of a multi-discipline team.

 

Additional Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Flexibility to travel to project sites as needed
