RINA is currently recruiting for a Office Engineer to join its office in Chicago within the North America Infrastructure & Mobility Division.

Compensation Data

Compensation Range: $70,000 - $90,000

Mission

The Office Engineer is responsible for ensuring efficient and accurate control and data management of project and construction related documents. This role involves assisting and supporting the team with the processing of all project required submittals. You will collaborate closely with owners, designers, and construction teams to provide construction management oversight. Additionally, you will work collaboratively with Resident Engineers, Field staff, and the construction management leadership team to ensure smooth project execution on large or mid-size projects. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure overall project record keeping is accurate and up to date including maintaining field records.
  • Set up and maintain computations, records and data related to projects.  
  • Prepare, process and track change orders ensuring all changes are properly documented and executed.
  • Process payment estimates in accordance with service level agreements.
  • Analyze submitted prices and estimate costs for new contract items to ensure project budget alignment.
  • Assist the Resident Engineers and Inspectors in administrative functions, including documentation and reporting.
  • Maintain and update as-built drawings to reflect changes or updates during construction.
  • Support project close-out procedures, ensuring all documents and deliverables are completed and filed correctly. 
  • Create and update submittal register to track and manage all required project submissions.
  • Organize, control, process and, distribute, project submittal documentation.
  • Remains in contact with office leadership to provide updates on project submittal timelines, and any potential delays.
  • Serves as a resource to the quality control team, assisting in the development and improvement of quality control procedures.  
  • Establish, develop, and implement document and data solutions with a primary focus on document control and records management.
     

Qualifications

  • Experience with federal and commercial construction projects, document control or related. Experience working on large or mid-sized transportation projects preferred. 
  • Bachelors in business administration, Construction Management, or similar. Ability to read and interpret construction documents.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for writing routine reports, meeting minutes and correspondence with project teams, leadership, clients and contractors.
  • Ability to identify problems, gather and analyze information, and make appropriate recommendations to resolve challenges and adapt to changing project needs.
  • Capable of meeting established goals while ensuring quality of work through accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Flexible, well organized, and detail oriented, with ability to use efficient time management skills to meet project deadlines and schedules.
  • Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including engineers, inspectors, quality control teams and leadership.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and project management software.

 

Additional Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license 
  • Flexibility to travel to project sites as needed
