RINA is currently recruiting for a General Ledger Manager to join its office in Chicago or Lisle, IL or Houston, TX within the Americas Finance Division.

Compensation Data

$120,000 - $140,000 base salary commensurate with experience

Mission

The Regional General Ledger (GL) Manager oversees and manages the general ledger accounting functions within the Group's legal entities in the North America region. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial statements, facilitates timely and accurate period-end close processes, and ensures compliance with local and international accounting standards. The GL Manager leads a team of accounting professionals and works closely with cross-functional departments to support financial reporting, analysis, and auditing activities.

Key Accountabilities

General Ledger Management:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the general ledger to ensure accurate and timely posting of all financial transactions.
  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes to ensure the accurate preparation of financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international accounting standards, company policies, and regulations.
  • Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and other GL-related documentation.
  • Ensure proper allocation of costs and revenues across accounts and departments.

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Ensure financial reporting is accurate, complete, and in compliance with internal policies, accounting principles, and regulations.
  • Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate the annual audit process, providing necessary documentation and explanations of GL accounts as needed.

Account Reconciliation and Maintenance:

  • Oversee the reconciliation of all general ledger accounts, ensuring any discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all general ledger accounts, ensuring proper documentation and backup for all transactions.
  • Perform periodic reviews of accounts to identify and correct any potential issues or discrepancies.

Internal Controls and Compliance:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard the organization’s financial data and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Continuously monitor and assess internal controls, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations and ensure the company’s GL processes remain compliant.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance and support for their career development and day-to-day operations.
  • Ensure the team is trained and up-to-date on accounting standards, software tools, and organizational policies.
  • Foster a collaborative and results-driven team environment to ensure the efficient and effective completion of all GL-related tasks.

Process Improvement and System Management:

  • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve GL processes and workflows, implementing best practices to increase efficiency and reduce errors.
  • Support the integration and implementation of accounting software and tools to improve GL functionality and reporting accuracy.
  • Continuously assess existing systems and processes for potential automation opportunities to improve accuracy and efficiency.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with other departments, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and tax, to ensure alignment and accuracy in the financial reporting process.
  • Work closely with senior management to support financial analysis and business decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
  •  5+ years of finance experience with a strong track record in regional financial management, preferably within a multinational organization.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and Excel.
  • Solid understanding of internal controls and audit processes.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and FAR audits is desired
