RINA is currently recruiting for a Lombardy & Emilia Romagna Certification Lead Auditor - Sustainability and GHG Protocol to join its office in Bologna, Italy within the Mediterranean & Africa Certification Division.
Mission
The role focuses on planning, conducting, and managing audits within our certification business related to the different certification schemes. #LI-DC2
Key Accountabilities
Audit Program Management
Develop, manage, and oversee the audit program, ensuring full alignment with organizational objectives and relevant industry standards.
Document Review
Review customer management system documentation (manuals, procedures, instructions, records, and files) to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
Audit Planning
Plan and organize audit activities, coordinating effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Audit Execution
Lead and participate in audits, conducting interviews, collecting evidence, and evaluating the effective implementation of management systems.
Audit Findings & Evaluation
Identify, assess, and classify audit findings, including non-conformities, observations, and opportunities for improvement.
Reporting
Prepare comprehensive audit reports, clearly outlining findings, conclusions, and recommendations to support certification decisions.
Follow-Up Management
Monitor and manage post-audit activities, ensuring timely closure of non-conformities and verification of corrective actions.
Technical Review
Perform detailed technical reviews of audit documentation and provide recommendations for certification decisions based on thorough analysis.
Continuous Professional Development
Maintain and update professional competencies, certifications, and technical knowledge in line with evolving standards and best practices.
Performance Monitoring
Evaluate and support the performance of auditors and other resources involved in the certification process.
Data Management
Ensure accurate and up-to-date maintenance of customer data and audit-related information.
Customer Engagement
Lead technical discussions with clients, building strong relationships and effectively addressing technical requirements and concerns.
Education
Qualifications
Professional Experience
At least 3 years of experience in auditing within management systems and international standards (e.g. ISO), or equivalent experience as a consultant in the same domains.
Technical & Regulatory Knowledge
Strong knowledge of sustainability frameworks and standards (e.g. ISO 14064, ISO 14068, GHG Protocol, BIOC). Familiarity with Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology; knowledge of ISO 14067 and experience with Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) are considered a plus.
Audit & Compliance Expertise
Solid understanding of the full audit lifecycle (planning, execution, reporting, and follow-up), with the ability to identify non-conformities and define effective corrective actions.
Program & Process Management
Proven ability to manage audit programs and ensure alignment with organizational objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
Analytical & Technical Skills
Experience in document review, technical assessment, and audit result evaluation, with a strong focus on accuracy and continuous improvement.
Communication & Stakeholder Management
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to conduct interviews, present findings clearly, and engage effectively with clients.
Performance & Quality Orientation
Ability to monitor performance and ensure compliance within audit processes, maintaining high quality and consistency standards.
Certifications & Continuous Development
Relevant certifications (e.g. Lead Auditor ISO) and commitment to continuous professional development and up-to-date industry knowledge.

Compensation Data
The salary range and job grade for this position are defined based on objective, role-related criteria and responsibilities in accordance with CCNL RINA (CNEL code I480).The gross annual salary range foreseen is between €40,000 and €55,000 and will be finally defined on candidate’s professional experience, qualifications, competencies and overall alignment with the role.In addition, an annual variable compensation component is provided, based on both Company and individual performance objectives in accordance with the current policies and collective agreements.The overall compensation package is complemented by the Company's welfare.
