RINA is currently recruiting for a Romania Non - Food Certification Junior Auditor to join its office in Bucharest within the International Certification Division.
Mission
We are seeking a Junior ESG & Carbon Auditor to support activities related to the measurement, verification, and audit of environmental footprints, with a focus on carbon emissions and ESG performance. The role involves working with carbon accounting software, supporting client projects, and contributing to compliance with applicable international standards. This position offers an opportunity to gain experience in environmental auditing, sustainability reporting, and ESG-related assessments.

Key Accountabilities
Carbon Footprint Audits
- Support carbon footprint audit activities in accordance with applicable standards, under the supervision of senior auditors.
- Assist with the collection, validation, and basic analysis of activity data provided by clients.
- Prepare and maintain audit documentation using established methodologies and templates, in line with ISO 14064-1 and the GHG Protocol.
ESG Audit
- Support audit procedures related to ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) disclosures and sustainability reports.
- Assist with gap analyses against sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g. GRI, SASB, TCFD).
- Contribute to verification activities for Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and related life-cycle assessment (LCA) data.
Standards & Compliance
- Develop and apply working knowledge of relevant standards in day-to-day tasks, including: ISO 14064-1 (organizational GHG inventories), ISO 14067 (carbon footprint of products), ISO 14065 (requirements for validation and verification bodies).
- Monitor regulatory developments, including the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), and support senior team members by preparing summaries and research notes.
- Assist in the preparation of draft verification statements and technical reports for review.
Project Support & Team Collaboration
- Support project coordination activities, including tracking timelines, deliverables, and documentation for assigned carbon and ESG audit projects.
- Participate in client communications alongside senior auditors.
- Collaborate with internal teams to support timely and accurate project delivery.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a relevant industry (e.g., manufacturing, energy, chemicals, logistics) or in a consulting/audit firm with exposure to: carbon accounting or GHG verification, ESG/sustainability reporting or audit.
- Hands-on experience with carbon footprint calculation software (e.g., SAP Sustainability Footprint Management, Sphera, Persefoni, Watershed, or similar), will be considered a plus.
- Demonstrable project management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Understanding of CBAM reporting requirements, will be a plus.
- A relevant professional certificate (e.g., GRI Certified, ISO 14064 Lead Verifier training, CFA ESG Investing), will be a plus.
- Availability to travel as required for the role.
- Driver's license.
