RINA is currently recruiting for a Internship - Junior Highway Engineer to join its office in Bari within the Civil Engineering Division.​

Mission

The Junior Highway Engineer works under the supervision of Senior Engineers to support various aspects of project planning, design, regulatory compliance, construction oversight, materials selection, and quality control within road and highway construction projects. The role supports to ensure the successful execution of projects while adhering to industry standards and regulations.

Key Accountabilities

Project Planning and Design:

  • Conduct comprehensive site assessments and feasibility studies for road or highway projects under the guidance of Senior Engineers;
  • assist in developing detailed engineering plans, models, specifications, and cost estimates for road construction and rehabilitation projects;
  • utilize state-of-the-art design software to create accurate and efficient road layouts in collaboration with Senior Engineers.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay updated on local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to road construction and ensure project compliance with relevant codes and standards;
  • work closely with regulatory bodies to obtain necessary permits and approvals for project implementation.

Construction Oversight:

  • Provide technical support during the construction phase, ensuring adherence to approved plans and specifications under the supervision of Senior Engineers;
  • conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and safety, and report findings to Senior Engineers.

Materials and Quality Control:

  • Assist in the evaluation and selection of suitable materials for road construction, considering factors such as durability, cost-effectiveness, and environmental impact;
  • participate in implementing rigorous quality control measures to ensure the longevity and safety of road infrastructure.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, surveyors, and other engineers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project requirements;
  • communicate effectively with project stakeholders, providing timely updates on progress, addressing challenges, and proposing solutions under the guidance of Senior Engineers.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering General

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and practices related to road and highway construction;
  • proficiency in design software and tools commonly used in civil engineering projects;
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration and stakeholder management;
  • ability to work well within a team environment and under the guidance of senior staff;
  • eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies in the field of civil engineering.

Compensation Data

The internship is designed as a training and orientation experience and, as such, provides a monthly allowance in accordance with applicable regional regulations and Company policies.
