RINA is currently recruiting for a Ports Engineering Associate Project Manager to join its office in Rome within the Maritime Infrastructure Engineering Project Management Division.
Mission
As a member of the Port and Marine Facility Business Line, you will be a key element for the success of our maritime projects by contributing to outcomes which exceed our clients’ expectations. You will primarily be involved in the achievement of timely, cost-effective and high-quality performances, based on the coordination of multi-disciplinary teams across maritime project life cycle, from technical and economic feasibility assessments, to detailed design and construction supervision. Additionally, you’ll support new business development initiatives, as well as tender submissions, to facilitate growth of the Ports Group within Rina Consulting. #LI-MB4
Key Accountabilities
As a junior Project Manager, you will be part of the project management team for national and international port and marine facility project. More in detail you will have to:
- understand and apply the standard engineering work planning, scheduling and controlling, conducting increasingly independent work requiring judgment in the application of Project Management and engineering techniques and tools;
- verify the progress of the work assigned to engineers, designers, and drafters and suppliers against a baseline, supporting the assessment of the relevant advancement, the prediction of deviation and of below-standard performances and eventually the understanding of root causes, recovery actions and impact mitigations;
- support to scheduling and monitoring work plans consistent with prime contract requirements, using standard PM tools;
- support to archiving and performing quality check-outs on working files and deliverables;
- gain a full understanding of the Company management tools and giving support in uploading and downloading data and documents;
- support in the preparation of invoicing requests and in monitoring and reporting payments;
- prepare draft PM periodical report and presentations to the Client and for internal use based on RINA standard templates, acquiring the relevant information;
- facilitate technical and contractual discussions with customers and suppliers, participating to meetings and drafting supporting documents and memos.
Education
Qualifications
- +1-3 years of experience in an engineering or technical role within a project setting, ideally with exposure to cross-functional teamwork
- Basic understanding of project management principles, including project lifecycle, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management
- Experience in tracking progress, managing schedules, and coordinating small project components or task lists
- Working knowledge and sound technical understanding of the principles and practices of the maritime engineering disciplines and works are valuable and appreciated
- Basic data analysis skills to support project reporting, with the ability to interpret key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics
- Proven ability to work effectively in team settings, ideally with some exposure to cross-functional project work
- Basic knowledge of Agile or Lean methodologies is advantageous, depending on the organization's preferred approach
- Professional project management certifications are desirable (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, or similar). A certification in Agile (e.g., Certified ScrumMaster) can also be beneficial
- Fluency in Italian and English languages. Any other languages will be considered as a strong plus
